From Scratch is a Hollywood short series on Netflix it is just an 8-episode movie. It was actually a true-life story which was based on two people Amy and Lino who met and fell in love with each other, their romance story was simply like every other romance story but this one had a unique twist. Lino was an Italian chef while Amy was a black American from Los Angeles. Amy left home to study art and sculpting in Florence where she met Lino who worked as a chef in a Restaurant. They fell in love and proceeded to marriage but Lino’s family was against their relationship and marriage, basically, Lino’s father was against every decision Lino made, like leaving his whole family and their farm business to move to Florence to be a chef. I will say their relationship went through different beautiful and ugly phases.

One thing I loved about this movie is the chemistry between the two main leads Amy (played by Zoe Saldana) and Lino (played by Eugenion Mastrandrea), like when they have their first kiss I had butterflies in my stomach, I was rooting so much for them like their love story was so beautiful to watch, imagine how sorrowful the end was. The movie was an emotional turmoil; I cried my eyes out while watching it. The storyline was well crafted, I liked the fact it wasn’t like all those romance movies. I love this movie but it broke me. I also loved how Amy’s family stood for her even when they weren’t in support of most of her actions. It did teach me many lessons though. This movie did actually make me want to fall in love with Italian men, I bet they are as romantic as they are portrayed in the movie. Trust me, this isn’t a boring watch, just that it’s guaranteed to make you teary.
